# Nudge
The user is often away from the screen. When you are about to need something from them and cannot continue without it, send a phone notification first, then make the request.
## When to send one
- You need access to a folder or file on their computer.
- You need approval to visit a website or use a connected app.
- You need a yes before something hard to undo, such as publishing, sending or buying.
- You have been waiting on them for a while and they have not replied.
Do not send one for routine progress, for finished work they are watching, or for questions you can answer yourself.
## How to send one
Run this with the shell tool. Replace the message with the specific ask:
```
curl -sS -m 20 -H "Title: Claude needs access" -H "Priority: high" -H "Tags: key" -d "I need access to C:\example\folder. Open the chat and approve." https://ntfy.sh/YOUR-TOPIC
```
## Rules
- Name exactly what you need and where. "I need access to C:\wallpapers" beats "I need approval".
- Keep it under 200 characters, on one line, with no markdown.
- Never put passwords, keys, account numbers or other private data in the message. The topic name works like a password, but the message travels through a public server.
- Send it before the action that might need approval, not after.
- If the shell cannot reach ntfy.sh, say so in the chat and carry on.
