# Who's That?
An Android app for the question you ask every time you watch something: *"Who is that, and where do I know them from?"*
Search for the movie or TV show you're watching, pick the season and episode, and tap any face. You'll see who it is, how old they are (and how old they were in what you're watching), and everything else they've been in. Mark shows and movies as watched, and those always appear first, so you can spot where you know someone from at a glance.
## Features
- **Search** movies, TV shows, or actors by name
- **Cast grid** with photos, actor names and character names
- **Episode guest stars**: pick a season and episode to see that episode's guest cast, not just the regulars
- **Actor pages** with age now, age at the time of the title you came from, birthplace, and bio
- **"Where do I know them from?"**: roles from titles you've marked as watched are listed first, then their best-known work
- **Recently viewed** list
- Built for big screens too (looks great unfolded on a Galaxy Fold)
## Setup
The app uses data from [TMDB (The Movie Database)](https://www.themoviedb.org). TMDB is free, but each person needs their own free TMDB key. The first time you open the app, a short setup walks you through getting one:
1. Make a free account at themoviedb.org and verify your email.
2. Open **Settings > API** and click **Create**. Choose **Developer** (the free personal option) and accept the terms.
3. Fill in the short form. The app gives you answers you can copy. The button may say **Subscribe**; the page should say **FREE**.
4. Copy your **API Read Access Token** (the long code starting with `eyJ`) or your **API Key**.
5. Paste it into the app and tap **Test & save**.
Your key is stored only on your phone.
## Download
Grab the latest `WhosThat.apk` from the Releases section and install it. (Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser or file manager the first time.)
## Building from source
Open the project in Android Studio, or build from the command line:
```
./gradlew assemblePublicRelease
```
The `public` build has no key built in and runs the setup wizard. The `family` build reads a token from a private `tmdb.properties` file (`token=...`) that is not part of this repository, for personal use only.
## Credits
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
