# Simple Mercies

Notice the good. Do some good.

A small, quiet Android app with four parts:

- **The Jar.** Write down one good thing a day and drop it in a glass jar that fills with paper slips. Shake your phone (or tap the jar) to pull out an old one. Browse everything by month.
- **Kindness.** One small kindness to try each day: Done, Another, or "Not today, and that's all right." No streaks. Every kindness you finish is kept.
- **Prayers.** Write a prayer and who it's for, then send it to them with one tap as a text or as a linen-and-flowers picture. Mark prayers answered and keep a record of how. Anything longer than X's 280 character limit gets a warning first (unless you've said you have a blue checkmark), with the option to send it as a picture instead.
- **Daily Notepad.** A dropdown for Thoughts, a To-do list and a Dream diary. Tick off a to-do and a heart flies out of the note, fills the screen, and fades away.

Linen, rose and sage backgrounds with pressed flowers, a Dusk night mode, IM Fell English and EB Garamond type, and square buttons. Home screen widget for today's kindness, optional evening and morning reminders, and a plain-text export of everything you've written.

## Install

Grab `SimpleMercies-1.2.apk` from this repo and open it on your phone.

## Building

Release builds need `mercies.keystore` in the project root (not included here), then `gradle assembleRelease`. `tools/linen.py` regenerates the linen and pressed-flower artwork.
