Closes#54.
A download can now be cancelled whether it is queued, in progress, or
paused. Cancelled is a terminal status: the store refuses to overwrite
it, the status channel relays nothing after it, the partial file is
deleted, and the transfer thread releases its socket at its next
one-second poll instead of the 30s read deadline. A queued download that
is cancelled declines the peer's later offer with TransferResponse
"Cancelled", and an inbound file connection for it is refused. A fresh
download of the same file evicts the dead row so it is not shadowed,
and a cancelled transfer is not re-queued after a restart.
Surfaces: Client::cancel_download, download.cancel over RPC, `transfer
cancel <user> <path>` on the CLI (which also stops an upload by that
name), and x in the transfers pane, where d dismisses the row.
A P-connection drop failed every download for its user, including ones
actively transferring on their own healthy F connection:
collect_failed_tokens now only fails queued downloads. And an F
connection could look its token up before the client-operations thread
had registered it: the listener now waits for the registration, and
claims it only for the matching peer and only when not already claimed.
Fixes#42
- Retry was broken for the common case: retry_selected_download removed
the failed download only from the UI list, not the client's
DownloadStore. Since Client::download re-derives the same md5 token
from the unchanged filename, retrying a still-Failed download left a
duplicate-token entry; the token-migration path then deleted both,
misrouting completion so the retried file downloaded to disk but the
UI showed 'Queued' forever. Add Client::remove_download /
DownloadStore::remove_by_file (status-agnostic) and clear the stale
entry before re-issuing. Regression-tested.
- Chat-room member selection could point out of range: RoomEvent::UserLeft
shrank the active room's member list without clamping user_selected, so
the highlight silently shifted to the wrong user (or vanished, making
'b'/'m' no-ops, and blanking the member pane). Clamp user_selected after
every applied room event. Regression-tested.
Add an e2e that forces the server-brokered (firewalled) browse path —
the path that matters on the real network. The sharer does NOT listen,
so the browser's direct dial fails and the server must broker the peer
connecting back to the browser's listener. This exercises
PeerConnectFailed -> ConnectToPeer -> inbound PierceFirewall ->
PeerConnected flush, which the localhost direct-dial test never hits.
Also soften user-facing download failure reasons from protocol jargon
("Peer …") to plain language ("The user went offline", etc.).
Carry a human-readable reason on DownloadStatus::Failed so it flows
through the existing status channel to the TUI. The download Info pane
now shows an Error line for a failed download (connect failure, peer
disconnect, truncated transfer, peer-reported upload failure, or the
underlying transfer error). Failures without a known reason render as
before.
Enable the full clippy all + pedantic + nursery groups as workspace warnings,
with a small documented allow-list for the pedantic/nursery lints this project
intentionally does not follow (rustdoc-style requirements, deliberate numeric
casts in the protocol/UI layers, and a few noisy nursery lints). Also enable
the rust unused_lifetimes and unsafe_op_in_unsafe_fn lints.
Fixed every resulting warning (527 -> 0) mechanically per clippy's suggestions:
inline format args, const fns, item ordering, let-else, redundant clones,
map_or, cast_lossless, Eq derives, associated-fn conversions for methods that
never used self, and removing unnecessary Result wrappers whose call sites could
never propagate an error. No runtime behavior changed; cargo fmt applied.
cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets: 0 warnings. All tests pass.
Splits the downloads area 60/40 with a new info pane that adapts to the
selected download's status: header (filename, user, size, status, save
path, bitrate, length) plus queued-specific fields (queue position, peer
slots, peer upload speed) or live progress/speed/ETA when transferring.
Plumbs queue position via a new ClientOperation::PlaceInQueueUpdate so
PlaceInQueueResponse messages from peers reach DownloadStore, and threads
search-time metadata (bitrate, length, peer slots/speed) onto Download
through a new download_with_metadata entry point.
Move the Vec<Download> and the download lifecycle methods (add, remove,
lookup, status update, pause, resume, remove-if-queued) into a new
download_store module. ClientContext keeps thin delegating shims so
peer/listen, peer/download_peer and the existing client tests carry on
unchanged. Client::pause_download / resume_download / remove_queued_download
now delegate one-liners. Client::process_failed_uploads keeps the
read-then-write lock dance but the inner filtering is the new
collect_failed_tokens helper.
Adds dedicated unit tests for the store's behavior (add/get/remove,
pause+resume, queued-only removal, failed-token collection) so the
state-machine logic is exercised independently of Client.
